WGA Volunteers Duffy Kopriva and Pat Hayden
These ladies know how to make it happen! Duffy Kopriva and Pat Hayden are always getting ready for something. Join them!

Members are the heart of our organization, and Volunteers – without a doubt – are our lifeblood! Volunteering is a great way to get involved without the formal obligation of a Committee role. Find a niche for your talents as you meet fellow members, help shape the organization and enjoy the experience. Most of our volunteer opportunities are flexible one-time or short-term commitments, and can often be fulfilled without leaving your home.

Dozens of Volunteers work behind the scenes to ensure WGA runs as an effective organization. From communications to education, events and more, there are a number of ways to get involved. We're happy to help you find – or create! – a role that fits your passion and preferences.

Volunteer Opportunities

Browse our volunteer opportunities below. To volunteer, please contact the Committee Co-Chairs (log in to see Committee Overview and Contact Information under Committee Working Materials) unless otherwise noted.

Communications

WGA develops a number of communications throughout the year. Volunteer your time and help us with our newsletter and publications. Interested? Contact the Communications co-chairs.

  • Photographers – Snap photos for our newsletter with your camera or smartphone.
  • Reporters – Attend WGA events, capture quotes and write recaps.
  • Copy Editors – Read our draft newsletters and publications and offer feedback.

Education

We're always in need of Volunteers to help us put on exceptional educational events. Help us set up events, greet members and guests, distribute literature and name tags and check people in. Interested? Contact the Education co-chairs.

Events

If you have a mind for logistics and like meeting and greeting people, we have the perfect opportunities for you! Interested? Contact the Events co-chairs.

  • Logistics Coordinators – Help WGA host our two Member luncheons (Member Forum in the spring and Annual meeting in the fall). Activities are low-stress and fun, e.g. assembling materials and handouts, setting up the conference room and greeting guests and members.
  • Strictly Social Hostesses – Once a year, WGA brings Members and guests together for fun, socializing and good cheer. Help us create a memorable, enjoyable event.

Grants

The varied talents of over 60 Volunteers are central to our three-part grantmaking process. Help us determine which agencies receive funds from our Grants Pool. Interested? Contact the Grants Decision Team co-chairs.

  • Volunteer Readers – Contribute to the Grants Decision Team by reviewing grant proposals and submitting comments electronically. No meetings are involved, but there is a mandatory training session once a year.

Neighborhood Connector Groups

Neighborhood Connector Groups grew out of Members’ interest in getting to know one another in small, close-to-home settings. Our Volunteers connect and welcome new and seasoned Members.

  • Hostess – Offer your home as a meeting place for a neighborhood meeting organized by your Connector.
  • Driver – Provide carpooling services when needed.

Willing and able? Please contact the Membership co-chairs or your local Connectors.

On-call

Ready to jump in and assist WGA when the unexpected occurs?  Pitch in on varied tasks that are short in duration. Sign up as an on-call volunteer! Please contact the Events Team co-chairs.

Quotes

Rachael Mueller

“There are 24 hours in a day so why not fill them with the most important things? Family, career and WGA are always at the top of my list. From committees to social and educational events, WGA gives me the opportunity to connect with strong women and make a difference in the community.”

– Rachael Mueller, JD, Chief Development Officer - Hope Haven

Tara Braithwaite

“After meeting some genuinely fun ladies at a WGA event, I was encouraged to take a more active role. I wasn’t sure I could with a husband and young daughter while also working. I’m happy to say I found a committee where I participate online or by phone with the time available.”

– Tara Braithwaite, Realtor

Anita Vining

"I rarely attend WGA events, but I write my check every year faithfully because I know the grants are wisely chosen, and do so much good in this community."

– Anita Vining, Realtor
